Brown bread cake
Bread again? Here is a recipe for a tasty variation on an old theme.
1st Layer: Cover round pan with a layer of black bread.4 servings
Ingredients: for 6-8 persons:
1-2 packs of brown bread - pumpernickel type if you can get it
1 pack Brunch (classic version or variety to taste)
2 packs Philadelphia cream cheese or equivalent (please do NOT use the low fat variety)
1 cup creme fraiche or sour cream
1 onion - medium, chopped finely
1-2 packs of cooked ham, cut slices into strips / pieces
1 bunch chives, cut into rolls
5 hard-cooked eggs, cut into slices
2nd Layer:Mix the Brunch with the finely chopped onion, ham and 1/2 cup crème fraiche (sour cream), season with salt, pepper and paprika and spread on the black bread.
3rd Layer: Mix two packs of Philadelphia cream cheese, 1/2 cup creme fraiche and half the chives. Spread about half of the mixture on the second layer of black bread.
4th Layer: Mix two packs of Philadelphia / cream cheese, 1 / 2 cup creme fraiche and half the chives. Half of the mixture on the second layer of black bread spread.
4th Layer: Mix two packs of Philadelphia cream cheese, 1/2 cup creme fraiche and half the chives. Spread about half of the mixture on the second layer of black bread.
5th Layer: Spread remaining mixture on it, decorate with the hard-boiled eggs and chives and refrigerate for about 1 hour.
The round baking pan helps to give this \"5-layer-sandwich\" its shape. However - as I am a great fan of \"practical and frugal\" I just layer 4-6 slices of bread side by side. The result is a rectangular \"cake\" - without wasteful crumbs and offcuts :-)
Super fresh and delicious recipe for all those of us who are fed up with the same old same old: BREAD!!
